May 21 event offers strategies for businesses to improve care, access and workplace experience for employees and their family members
SAN FRANCISCO – May 17, 2019 – The impact of mental health and substance use disorders in the workplace is of increasing concern for employers. To assist purchasers in improving access to care and experience for their employees and family members, on May 21 the Integrated Benefits Institute (IBI) and Pacific Business Group on Health (PBGH) are hosting a symposium for key stakeholders.
This employer-focused event, Mental Health is Bigger than Mental Health, will highlight best practices in worksite initiatives to enhance benefit design, onsite clinic-based services, employee assistance programs and absence management.
“Employers have come to recognize that their focus on health needs to go beyond its physical manifestations,” said Thomas Parry, PhD, President, IBI. “Mental health is a key component of employee wellbeing and the employee’s ability to show up for work and perform at high levels. The connections between behavioral health, proper care and outcomes relevant to both the employee and the employer are why mental health is bigger than mental health.”
